Pride in Place

Pride in Place supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender diverse, intersex, asexual, and queer (LGBTQIA+) individuals in finding safe, secure, and affordable housing.

We assist those who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or living in housing that is unsafe, unstable, or unaffordable. We currently operate in the Hume Merri-bek, Inner Western Metro, Outer Eastern Metro, and Central Highlands regions of Victoria.

If You Are Homeless or At Risk of Homelessness

You can access Pride in Place services if you are:

  • Currently homeless
  • In a housing crisis
  • Without a place to stay tonight
  • Living in unsafe housing
  • Struggling to pay rent
  • At risk of homelessness

We are currently operating only in the Hume Merri-bek, Inner Western Metro, Outer Eastern Metro, and Central Highlands regions of Victoria.

If you live outside these areas and are experiencing homelessness or at risk, please contact your nearest housing and homelessness access point. You can also call 1800 825 955 to be directed to the nearest access point for assistance.

Important:

Pride in Place is not an emergency service.
If you are in immediate danger, please call 000.
For crisis homelessness assistance after business hours, call the statewide after-hours service at 1800 825 955.

For Support Workers: Referrals

If you are a support worker and would like to refer a client to Pride in Place, please complete the referral form and provide detailed information about your client’s circumstances. Ensure you have their written or verbal consent for Pride in Place to make contact.

What is Pride in Place?

Pride in Place provides comprehensive, safe, and inclusive pathways to recovery for LGBTQIA+ individuals experiencing homelessness. We also intervene early to support those at risk of homelessness, guiding them toward safe and sustainable housing options.

Our services include:

  • Initial Assessment and Planning
  • Case Management and Coordination
  • Peer Navigation
  • Service Navigation

We work to connect LGBTQIA+ individuals with the services they need when they need them.

How We Work With Service Users?

At Pride in Place, we prioritize the agency and choice of those we serve. We meet individuals where they feel safe and secure, providing flexible, person-centered, and outcome-driven support.

Who is Eligible?

Pride in Place works with individuals, couples, and families who:

  • Identify as LGBTQIA+
  • Have housing or homelessness support needs
  • Are connected to the Hume Merri-bek, Inner Western Metro, Outer Eastern Metro, or Central Highlands areas of Victoria
