Celebrating IDAHOBIT Day

Our staff, volunteers and clients hosted events across our VincentCare Hubs where we stood in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community.

In acknowledgment of IDAHOBIT Day, our staff, volunteers and clients hosted events across our VincentCare Hubs where we stood in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community. We took time out to reflect on the unique challenges of discrimination, isolation and violence experienced by LGBTQIA+ folk, particularly those experiencing homelessness, and equally celebrated the community’s strength, resilience and determination.

Ozanam House and the Homelessness Resource Centre celebrated the opening of Anna’s Room—a dedicated space providing comfort and support to LGBTQIA+ individuals, where we affirm and celebrate diverse experiences and identities, honouring the legacy of our friend and colleague Anna Civitico. We are proud to have created a safe haven where everyone can find solace and understanding. The celebration was made even more special with a captivating performance by the talented drag queen, Miss Bobbee Pinn.

Our Northern Hub enjoyed a mesmerizing performance by Melbourne’s own The Real Dolly Diamond. Laughter and applause filled the room as we celebrated diversity and embraced the power of inclusion.

Meanwhile, our Shepparton Hub held a morning tea and actively participated in several local community IDAHOBIT Day events to nurture a positive and inclusive environment.
We are committed to supporting and uplifting our local community, fostering unity and understanding.
