Ari’s Path to Stability and a True Home with VincentCare’s Support

With the support of VincentCare, Ari’s journey to safe and stable housing has finally led him to a place he can call home. For someone as young as Ari, this journey has been much longer and more difficult than it should have been. As a young trans man, Ari’s struggle to find a stable home began at a time in his life that should have been filled with new beginnings and possibilities, as he transitioned into his true identity.

However, with an unaccepting environment, Ari faced the harsh reality of homelessness: couch surfing, sleeping in precarious situations, and spending countless nights in his car with his only friend, Nibbles the cat. He also worried about the risk of losing his job due to his unstable circumstances.

When Ari connected with VincentCare’s Northern Community Hub in Glenroy, he no longer had to face these challenges alone. With the VincentCare team by his side, providing guidance and linking him to the right support systems, his path began to shift.

Ari’s support worker arranged a caring solution for Nibbles and secured a spot for Ari in transitional housing accommodation—a much-needed break from the constant stress of not knowing where he would sleep next.

The challenges continued, though. As Ari progressed in his housing journey, he encountered major obstacles in applying for private rentals due to discrepancies between his identity documents from before and after his transition—a process that can take significant time to resolve.

VincentCare provided him with tailored, rainbow-friendly accredited support. His support workers helped Ari navigate these complexities, offering guidance and understanding. Alongside this, he completed a Certificate III in Business with determination.

Today, Ari has a home—an apartment where he is reunited with Nibbles and can finally build the life he dreams of and deserves, empowered and looking into a future filled with possibilities.
