EnergyAustralia VincentCare Donation
Every day the catering team at VincentCare’s Ozanam House and Ozanam Community Centre provide a hot meal to people doing it tough; the rough sleepers and those at risk of homelessness.
Christmas day is no different. To provide a traditional, hot meal for around 300 people, we rely on donations and the commitment of our dedicated volunteers.
EnergyAustralia, one of Australia’s leading energy retailers, wanted to support a charity this festive season, particularly one supplying meals to those in need on Christmas day. To generate its generous donation, EnergyAustralia decided it would save on the expense of a new corporate Christmas e-card and recycle the previous one.
“Each year we typically design a festive-season card to thank our people for their hard work and to wish them a safe and restful break with their families,” says EnergyAustralia Managing Director, Catherine Tanna. “But for 2016 we really wanted to do something to help people in need so we took a different approach – we’ve recycled last year’s card and are donating the money we saved to VincentCare.”
It’s a simple and creative way to donate and make a difference to those Victorians facing disadvantage this Christmas.
Since opening its doors in 1954, VincentCare’s Ozanam Community Centre and Ozanam House has provided hot meals to those in need seven days a week 365 days a year.
In the last twelve months almost 35,000 lunches have been served. On Christmas day staff and volunteers take time away from their own families to ensure that everyone who attends has a fantastic meal and a day to remember. The traditional three-course lunch is served; Santa brings presents and live music played.
